Review: Sound of Metal

Sound of Metal may be one of the great revelations of the year. I'd say it already is, but we have to wait to see its way into awards season and see how far this Darius Marder's gem can go.

Darius Marder makes his feature film debut with this film in which a young drummer suddenly goes deaf. I'm not going to do spoilers, I don't like them, but it is one of the stories that have touched my soul. The final scene is gold.

Marder's direction is terrific too. In each scene, in each approach, he shows the essential and he makes you never lose interest in the plot.

Let's talk about its actors. They can be the most acclaimed of the movie. And it is that both Riz Ahmed and Paul Raci make moving performances.

Riz Ahmed is absolutely amazing in the character of him. He knows how to make you empathize with him.

Paul Raci shows the kind face, the master face of this film. Who doesn't love his best teachers? It is wonderful.

And another aspect to highlight is, of course, the sound. It's the first time that a technical aspect, removing the soundtracks, makes you empathize with the feeling of the protagonist. A very original idea, risky but that works out wonderfully.

It has definitely become one of my favorite movies. It is certainly one of the movies of the year.
